About Mandi
Mandi started her career in journalism as a newspaper reporter in her hometown of Atlanta, Ga.
After moving to New York City for a job in magazines in 2009, she was laid off just three months into her new job and had to scramble to make ends meet. It was during that long summer of unemployment when Mandi vowed to teach herself how to build wealth and a financial safety net so that she would never feel financially vulnerable again.
Mandi found her way into the realm of finance through storytelling. She was the first personal finance writer hired at Business Insider in 2013 and later became the editor of the site’s Your Money vertical before leaving to join Yahoo Finance as a personal finance writer and correspondent.
At Yahoo, Mandi doubled down on her efforts to tell stories to help young adults navigate their careers and wealth-building journeys with realistic, down-to-earth advice. Her articles garnered millions of views per month and she launched a web series called Money Minute, distilling personal finance advice into 60-second clips.
While at Yahoo, Mandi co-founded the Brown Ambition Podcast with her friend and peer Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche in 2015. Brown Ambition is thriving with a loyal audience of largely women of color seeking to improve their financial and career trajectories.
“I’m on a mission to help women achieve their wildest financial and career ambitions.”
